Added an RPM gauge and a compass to the panel. The compass is on the far right , as far as I could mount it from electrical interference sources. The RPM gauge will be replaced with a "Tiny-Tach" which can be configured for different ignition systems, logs run time, and has a maintenance reminder function for engine service, such as oil change every 25 hours.
Did an estimate of this analog panel weight compared to a digital version using an early model Stratomaster and the AV8OR gps. The analog version is only about 0.75# heavier, so not much penalty there.
After I have the aircraft sorted out, I can sill replace the panel with the digital version, which has some advantages and more functionality such as engine monitoring with alarms, OAT function, density altitude calculations, etc, etc. However, the analog version is a bit easier on the ageing eyes, and not subject to so many potential teething calibration or electrical problems.
